Was on the water around 2:30 or so PM and stayed out until the sun had set. I trolled the perimeter of the lake, alternating between hugging the lilly pads that encircle the lake as closely as possible without snagging my line and pushing out anywhere from 5-30 feet from the pads. I even tried a few runs right across the middle of the lake. I was also switching between a red wedding ring, a green wedding ring and a black fly. The only luck I had seemed to be weather related. It rained on me pretty hard around 330 and when it was over, the rainbows started jumping. I don't really know why. I spotted where they were splashing (near the launch, about 15 feet or so from the lilly pads) and trolled across that spot repeatedly with the red wedding ring. This scored me 2 rainbows, the first I lost right at the boat, appeared to be 10" or so. The second was dinner, about 11." As I kept trolling that spot they became less and less active and stopped hitting my lures. Oh, and my trolling distance/depth was usually 35 pulls off the reel, with either no split shot or 1 split shot at the swivel.
