All I can say is, WOW! It was just one of those days. Decided to start off on the hump just out in front of the speed limit buoys at the boat launch. Caught 5 there, including one 3-0. Started moving down the hump to the right of the boat launch. I came to the logs sticking out of the water. Anyone can see the logs I'm talking about. The decision was go in or go out. I went in where the water shallowed up to 14 ft. Immediately hooked up with my second biggest smallie ever from Tapps, 3-8. Decided to stay shallow, at around 15 to 17 ft, which is much shallower than I usually fish this time of the year. Ended up with 15 there, with another two which were 3-0 and 3-2, and several 2's. Then moved down the lake toward Dike 10. Finished the day there fishing outside the cove in 18 to 24 ft of water. There were so many fish showing up on my graph that I stayed there the rest of the morning. I caught another 28 smallmouth there. Yep, it was one of those days.
There was an older gentleman and a teenager who were fishing close by in a row boat. They saw me hook several smallies one after another. I finally pulled up to them and gave them some of the curly-tailed grubs I was using, and told them how to fish them. Hopefully, I made their day a better one.
Will be back at the boat launch around 6:30 tomorrow morning. Can't wait!
