Still highly irritated with I82 Pond #4, so I decided to skip it. Went up to Scooteny to see about whacking a carp or two with the bow, since I had a couple of spare hours. The conditions were very good - sunny, no wind. However, the irrigation district in running a *ton* of water into Scooteney right now, which caused a lot of problems. There were lots of carp, including some very nice ones probably in the 20-25 pound range. However, they were swimming 5-6' down in fairly turbid water, making shooting them very difficult. Had to do a lot of waiting until the stupider specimens went by in ~2' of water.
Can't figure out why the irrigation folks are trying to turn Scooteney Reservoir into Lake Missoula...
