After a trip to potholes, we traveled the short trip to Soda Lake, right down the road (a guy a Mardons told us where to go). This is a BEAUTIFUL little lake, and I ended up getting three in about two hours (we had to go home, 3- 3 1/2 hour drive), all 12-14 inch, but scrappy fighters fairly chunky, with a nice pinkish meat. Fun trip, will be coming back.
For technique, just used a basic bottom fishing rig. Just a egg weight, bead, swivel, 36 inch leader or so, #8 gammy octi hook, and enough chartreuse PB (Great, now I'm on all the fly-fishers hit lists!) to cover the hook. They were biting real soft, just a small tap every now and then. Gotta wait for the take, I had probably ten hits in the time, lost most to jumping the gun.
