Had to get back to try this again. I caught 2 nice trout all day. 17" and an 18" Rainbow. Both fat like a football! It was windy again. I tried chironomids but the wind was to strong and blew me and my fly around to much to look like a chironomid. Yeah, I know, buy an anchor. Ok, both fish were hooked on Wooly Buggers, one on olive and one on brown. There is so much food in these lakes (leeches, scuds, bug larvae, worms, etc.) that the fish don't seem hungry. Again there was a hatch of what appeared to be a variety of midge going on, but few surface feeders. Why eat a skinny little fly when there are fat leeches and freshwater shrimp to be had! Try something BIG and TASTY, it worked for me.
Good Luck to All!
