Went to Lake Tapps today with my daughter and my buddy Capt. They call it the smallmouth factory and I can see why. We hooked quite a few very small ones. Although I got my personal best today 2.8lbs and then another about 2.2lbs. My daughter was fishing worm and bobber in 12 feet of water and hooked at least 5 but landed 2. That kept a smile on her face the whole day and she couldn't wait to tell mommy about it. Oh and I caught our one and only perch on a beetle spin in 15" of water. All in all a good day with my girl. Please take your kids fishing !!!

I met you and your partner at the launch, It was a great pleasure. Obviously you know how to catch smallies. Tapps is a smallmouth factory, but you can tell by the amount of small bass being caught, the game department considers the lake over populated, hindering their growth. Right now, catching a 4 lb smallmouth is very rare. For that reason the game department is encouraging anglers to take their limit home. Just make sure you don't have more than one over 14 inches per person. Anyway, nice fish.
