After failing to get a fishing buddy to hit lake Roosevelt on Saturday, I tried Hayden Sunday morning solo. There was limited parking due to the bass tourney that took place the night before and was winding down when I got there @ 5:45. I was head out to where I had good fishing a month ago when I started marking fish @ 40ft about a half a mile from honeysuckle launch. I dropped both downriggers down to 37' and went about 50 yrds when the first one popped and I pulled a dark red toothy monster about 2#. I got another hit on the same setup of a UV sling blade with a pink and clear silver horde hoochie. I made to other pole to match and then it got really hectic. Both rods went off at the same time, so I popped one downrigger and got the line tight and then went to work on the second one and was able to land both fish a buck and a hen. I reset and it happened again. I landed both fish and was pretty happy with my first solo trip. I ended up catching 11, let all but 2 of the hens go because they got tore up pretty good. Fishing pretty much died around 1030 about the time the wakeboard and pleasure boats came out. All the fish were around the 2# mark (1#12oz-2#02oz and the meat was still nice. Looking forward to getting back out after my son is born. Still struggling to get pics to upload.
