Up at 2 am, on the water before sunrise, rods down when the bite should be good. I thought I'd give Baker a chance to see if I wanted to spend my vacation up there this weekend. Nope. I don't want to.

A bunch of bored people driving in circles is what it was. I did hear a rumor about some guy that heard that some guy had hooked a fish.

I trolled Noisy Creek up and down, a few times, for a few hours, then cut across to fish the road side. At around 9:15 or so, I'm sitting there, dog in my lap and sorta out of it, looking ahead, two boats coming at me, better veer a bit to the port side, I look back at my rod, it popped and was bouncing. So I wake up real quick get the rod out of the holder best I can, and try to reel down on the fish. Too late, of course, a fish, followed by a flasher jumps 3 feet out the water 10 feet from the boat and spits the hook.

Yea, that was it. As far as I know, I was the only one who even touched a fish in the 7 hours I trolled around out there. I'm not coming back until the lake gets a massive push of fish, or the bite changes dramatically. It's not worth it.

Nah, I was in my raft. Don't have a big motor for the DB yet, I can launch my raft right there at the top of the lake, rather than motor slowly all the way up from the campgrounds.

OK, we fished the far side of the lake most of the morning so that's why we missed you. The word that came to my mind - Brutal.

My friend who is a Game Warden checked 50 people yesterday or the day before and seen 3 fish. Very slow. They are just not biting very good. She said next years run will be a lot better and they are thinking it will be a very good chance that the river will be open for them again

I hope not. Much rather see it left to just the lake. JMO

Painfully honest, but you did report on it. Sorry to hear it was such a bust! Baker seems to be sucking a bit this year.
Glad you didn't make it your vacation next week!

One more thing... Maybe you should make yer vacation up at lake Cle Elum. (of course ask Mike) Kokanee, Macks like no tomorrow, lost and confused Sockeye unintentially biting your hook. Campground at the N. end of the lake is really nice. Short trips up to Salmon La Sac, drop the vessel into Cooper lake, Browns, cutts, etc. Cliff diving at Salmon La Sac, etc.

That's our next overnight trip. I am concerned that the kokanee will be bumping up against that 14" limit.
