Took the grandkids to camp next to Burke Lake (7/14 - 7/19). We were lucky enough to camp next to the lake where we could tie up the toon next to camp. I usually went out first thing and caught a couple, then The wife & one or two (or all 6) dogs. Then later in the day the grandkids, daughter & wife & I all went out. We caught fish every time we went out. Nice fat red meated rainbows in the 1 to 2 pound range. We were the only ones on the water most of the week. There were a couple people fishing from shore every once in awhile, but really peaceful for the most part. I think this will be a family tradition for the future. Granted, the 104 deg. weather was a bit hard to handle and the generator got a workout keeping the motorhome AC on, and the bugs greeted us every time the wind slowed (nothing a little Deep Woods couldn't handle). There's only a week & a half left if you want some nice trout. Go a little past the rocky small island East of the launch where the water gets about 30' deep. The fish were holding at about 20'. We just used a #6 hook with a half of a night crawler and a couple split shot straight down from the boat. The wind comes and goes. Don't let it discourage you. We saw a few people get to the launch with the wind just a howlin, and leave, then about a half hour later it was like a mirror.
