Things are a little slow at work so I took advantage of a couple of days off and got back out on Cda Lake again yesterday for some more pike action. Started at 7am and had my first one in the boat by 7:15, then it took an hour to find another one. I fished the main lake and 2 of the cahin lakes as well. I'll tell you this. If you want to catch bass, just tell everyone you're going pike fishing, then the bass will bite. LOL
Finished the day wit 8 pike and 4 nice large mouth. The bass were a nice bonus ranging from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 pounds. Got 3 bass on spinner baits and one on a 6" Castaic soft plastic swimbait.
The pike were decent sized. Got 2 dinks and the rest weren't too bad. Top 4 fish were 27, 28, 28, and 29" Heaviest fish was 6 1/4 pounds. The pike were all in about 7-8 feet of water again and this time they were liking the spinner bait. I have been having pretty good luck if I find a weed line then stay right on the weed line and throw baits paralel to the weeds. A storm started coming in, in the afternoon and that seemed to turn the fish on. Things had been slow off and on most of the day but twhen the couds roed in and the breeze came aong, the fish got in the biting mood.
