Seen a lot of hot reports for Meridean this month so headed back there for Lemon MerAngler II's maiden voyage. Have added a sit-on-top kayak to the fleet, and it is a great fishing platform, better I think than the sit-in-kayak I have used for the last year. On the water by about 0630 by way of the DFW launch and I think I had my limit by 0800. Can't be exact on the depth with the rig I use, but was aiming for 25-30'. Trolled a brass/silver Seps dodger with a red wedding ring, fire corn and Gulp maggot. Five nice fish for the smoker and two or three that jumped off the hook. I tried my hand at largemouths after that, and hooked into a nice one on a Senko under a dock. Problem is I have gotten so used to beign skunked on the bass and getting snagged instead that I was sure I had just cought my worm on the piling. Nope - snags dont move your line! Was too surprised to get a good hook set and after he pulled a bit I lost him, but I'll be back...

Hey jimmyd, next time you're out there I'll be sure to say hi. Think it was your last report that motivated me to get out to Meridan while the action is still hot. Will probably be back out on Tuesday so I can fill all the racks in my Little Chief for a batch of smoking.

I lost a big one on the north side and end of the swimming dock last time I was there with a drop-shot lizard bait. Was a good 5lber. I was just walking up the dock bouncing my rig along as I went.

Hi, do you have a motor attached to the kayak for trolling? Thank you.
