Was able to get out on the water again yesterday. Launched from Idylwood at around 7:30am, and it took me the better part of an hour and a half to paddle against the wind to make it down south to deeper water. I knew ahead of time that the weather would be cooling down, and wanted to see how that affected the bite.
When I finally got to the shoreline I wanted to focus in, I was still getting beat up by the choppy water, but went right to work, excited to test out these "wobble" football head jigs.
For sure the best day on the Lake so far this year. What a blast. Caught 5 fish total, but all of good size, and within a few hours. Bite was on from 9-12, basically until the sun came out. All fish caught in water 16-25', along a 100 yard stretch of shoreline. I forgot how much I like fishing with the bigger jigs, because the bass hammer them so hard. I've been fishing my dropshot rig too much, and forget what that WHABAAM style bite feels like. The perch seem to pester the bigger bait less as well.
