Got on the water around 7:30 and fished until about 2:30. Was kind of a slow and frustrating day on Clear. My logic for picking Clear on July 4th was that it didn’t have a park attached to it and so I thought it would be a bit slower and calmer than other lakes. I was wrong. As we pulled into the launch a wakeboarder pulled in behind us and was also on the water around 7:30, was bummed that there’d be no peace. For most of the day there were 5-7 large boats zipping around the lake making trolling or bottom fishing nearly impossible to do effectively. I was just puzzled why you’d spend that much for a high powered 18-22’ boat then use it going in tight 15 second circles on a tiny lake but to each their own I guess. I’d definitely be on larger bodies of water with their set ups though.
Not sure if it was the above boating pressure or my technique but fishing was slow for most of the day. We did manage to land 3 kokanee trolling and 2 bows and 2 perch bottom fishing. The kokes hit small pink wedding rings behind dick nite dodgers about ~20’ down, we got bites all over the lake but not a lot of strong take downs/hooks ups. The bows and perch were in 30’ of water and hit the standard worm on a hook. Was happy to send my friend home with fish but was obviously hoping it’d be a bit more. We’ll get ‘em next time! Tight lines all!

Bummer about the wake boarders. Small lakes like that need speed restriction like Angle Lake and others have. At least you picked up fish!

At Clear if you only have a few boats launching that is OK because a lot of the skier-wake boards live there. They don't have to launch. If they put a speed limit they would have to move.

Thanks G-Man! Agree on the speed limit, love Angle specifically because it has that. I just had to remind myself that they have as much right to the lake as anyone and if i didn't like it i could leave.
Hi Toni, 2-3 lived on the lake, i was surprised how many were actually launching 19' speed boats to engage in mini-lake nascar driving. Didn't make a lot of sense to me but it didn't have too, thier boats to do what they please with. I was happy that all were paying attention and there weren't any accidents or even close calls between them or between them and me.

It would serve everybody in this state well if rules were enacted that restrict ski/wake/etc board activity to not earlier than 10am in the morning. For those that choose to fish, the good window for that is over by that time for the most part. For those that ski, etc, they get the rest of the day. Seems fair and equitable to me,,,,now just convince the after 10am crowd.
