Got on the water around 7:30 and fished until about 2:30. Was kind of a slow and frustrating day on Clear. My logic for picking Clear on July 4th was that it didn’t have a park attached to it and so I thought it would be a bit slower and calmer than other lakes. I was wrong. As we pulled into the launch a wakeboarder pulled in behind us and was also on the water around 7:30, was bummed that there’d be no peace. For most of the day there were 5-7 large boats zipping around the lake making trolling or bottom fishing nearly impossible to do effectively. I was just puzzled why you’d spend that much for a high powered 18-22’ boat then use it going in tight 15 second circles on a tiny lake but to each their own I guess. I’d definitely be on larger bodies of water with their set ups though.
Not sure if it was the above boating pressure or my technique but fishing was slow for most of the day. We did manage to land 3 kokanee trolling and 2 bows and 2 perch bottom fishing. The kokes hit small pink wedding rings behind dick nite dodgers about ~20’ down, we got bites all over the lake but not a lot of strong take downs/hooks ups. The bows and perch were in 30’ of water and hit the standard worm on a hook. Was happy to send my friend home with fish but was obviously hoping it’d be a bit more. We’ll get ‘em next time! Tight lines all!
