My son was bored and while I was at work grabbed my kokanee rod and decided to go fishing. He went to a friends to see if they wanted to go and while he was there decided to try to cast my Black Max reel because he never used that type of reel before. First cast, a birds nest but then he got it straightened out. Second cast a even worst birds nest. He returned it to me in the morning minus line and he didn’t go fishing.
I woke up at 4am and put line on my reel and loaded every thing up and was at the launch around 6. Got the boat in the water and after parking the vehicle I walked to the boat and found that I forgot to put the motor on it. Back to the vehicle, got the motor, put it on the boat in 5 minutes. I thought it was going to take me longer.
The sun was peaking over the hills as I headed east trolling with the bottom rod at 30 feet and the second stacked at 20. I got a hit 2/3 of the way towards the east end of the lake. I got it close enough for me to see it and as the net headed his way he shook his head and was off. Oh well. I get everything ready to go and troll around and get another fish on in about a ½ hour.
That was the bottom rod so I pull up everything to get it ready again when a boat comes flying down the lake. They went into the shallows to fish. I get back in the area and I can’t find any fish. I see a boat going fast at the west end of the lake. I watch it wondering if it is a ski boat but it stops so I believe it is a bass boat. I am spending a few minutes trying to find the fish when that boat I thought was a bass boat starts heading east toward me with a skier. They wiz by and I figure I had better finish this fishing trip. I saw some one I knew watering plants on their dock so I went and talked with her a few minutes then trolled back to the launch with only one fish on the ice which is a neighbor’s dinner.
I caught it 34 foot down in about 85 foot of water on a Dick Nite Pink Splatter Dodger with Wannafish A Lure Pretty in Pink Kokanee with some garlic smelling shoe peg corn. The water temp was 68 at 20 foot down and the air temp was 64 to start with. We are coming into our second day of a heat wave.
We are in a battle! Angler against fish! We need an arsenal of weapons and at my site you will find some of those different weapons. For all those who wannafish a lure come in and take a look at WannafishALure.com.
