So I've been here all week, improved my bait types, improved my time of day, got a new pole even (my other was a bit small and couldn't cast out far) and I've only caught TWO fish haha decent sized. But we should be catching more. I'm using hook and bait, slip weight, two swivel, bottom fishing. My bait has ranged from power bait mice tails, power bait worms, power bait eggs (garlic and original scent) trout dip, and live worms. And yet not much luck. Any suggestions or words of wisdom to help?? Please help this girl out so I can bring home some fish :) other than the difficulties, its a beautiful lake, I enjoy fishing a lot overall so even a bad day is still a good day. Some of the residents will come by and sayhi. :)

Missxheather5... have never fished Desire, though have been by it many times. This time of year, one factor that makes a lot of difference, is the length of leader... water plants are growing fast in the warm water and sunshine, so you need to get a floating bait above the weed tops. A leader length of 5' to even 7' or 8' is often necessary to get the bait above the weeds. If you use worms, marshmallows will get them off the bottom, or I sometimes use corkies, pinned with a toothpick or plastic "wedgie" above the hook. Sounds like you are on the right track... don't give up... fishing is such a wonderful sport. Good luck! PTL!

What Stansjoy said... long leader length absolutely helps during the summer when the weeds grow. Power eggs or worm and marshmallow are my go-to baits
