Fished a surprisingly crowded Lake Lenore on opening day. A friend of mine (Russell Johnston) and I came here thinking there would be very few people on this catch and release lake. We were wrong.

The two of us have had great success on this lake in the past, but on this day, a double serving of humble pie was in order. I managed to hook and lose one fish while Russell couldn't even do that. Meanwhile, a couple of fly fishermen in the same area were consistently hooking, catching and releasing fish throughout the day a few yards away from where we were casting.

It was definitely a day where only a couple of fishermen broke the code and figured out what the Lahontan Cutthroat were keying on. These few were also very tightlipped about it too (unfortunately for Russ and I).

All in all, a day of beautiful weather and a very humbling experience!
