This is a followup report to the one posted by fishinChristian for the Potholes Seep lakes. Lingering health problems have severely cut down on the number of fishing trips I have made in 2013. The Staph infection that had afflicted my left foot for nearly a year had migrated to my right heel, making getting out very often a daunting prospect. Still, after a Dr. appointment, I was up for trying our hand at putting some crappie or bass in the boat. Joe's wonderfully decked out pontoon boat served us well on this day's foray. Due to the time of day, lack of cloud cover and high heat index, it was a daunting proposition for scoring any crappie. There were also clouds of new baby fish fry everywhere to compete with our jigs. Joe Changed up though and tossed a topwater frog and it paid off around 2:30 when a 5 pound bass engulfed his bait. It was another 2 + hours before we had another bite. When Joe's custom poured corkscrew worm in White Ice color got tore from his hook, I pitched a straight tail finesse 6" watermelon/red flake worm that I added a chartruse tail to into the same area and nailed a nice 3 pound plus Largemouth bass. That Pattern remained productive as we targeted isolated cattail points with shade, and Joe put a 6.75 lb bass in the boat with a perfect cast of his topwater frog into a thick pocket of cover. All in all, we had to work for our fish but their large size more than made up for an otherwise slow day. I hope to get out again soon and fish with Tldeke, Gordy C and Charlie Liebert. Tight lines brothers. Jiggy
