Woke up early bird yesterday morning to head out to Martha Lake and hunt down some fish.. 5am and I was already at the launch rolling in.. I headed straight across from the launch to a real quiet cove where I saw some rising fish with the sunrise so I started out the day casting flies, I got a 1 hit and miss in about 1.5 hours and finally called that quits after the fish stopped surfacing so much.. so I switched gears in to my Bass gear and started the hunt that I came for... I started out working some docks with a plastic 4" powerbait worm bouncing it across the bottom, I got what I think were some love taps but no hook ups.. so after a bit I switched to a crankbait, 1st cast I sent it right up close to shore where there was a rockery wall and right next to the dock, like right into the corner, and WHAM! it got slammed with my 1st jerk.. I was pretty surprised and didn't hit the record on my camera right away, but then realized this was a good sized Bass.. camera on, battle on!! I worked the Bass to the boat, reached over thinking I was like Bill Dance and could just pick this sucker up, I fumbled, knocked the lure out and there went the fish before I could pull it out for a pic.. ugh, so bummed!!!! Me being a total Bass rookie, this was the biggest bass of my days, i'd like to guess an easy 4lb's or more.. i got the battle on video but didn't get the pic I wanted.. I will be back for redemption soon!

So I continued to work this side of the lake and docks a bit more, I hit my lure up against a dock and broke the diving beek on it and I didn't have another so i kept switching through my lures i thought might be good to use but no more real action for the next couple hours so I headed home.. home before 11am :)

I'm still wondering what the best bait right now is to use for this time of yr? whats their daily routines and all that.. i'm fresh and ready to learn and catch some Bass! i'll be watching some youtube videos for sure!!! I think the next few weeks I will be specifically targeting bass as much as I can....

so here's a short report video form my morning..

Good vid, just don't land on your rod that way again or it could break. When landing a crankbait fish I most always use a net as I sure don't like hooks in my hands, been there, done that. 5am? I'm usually taking my first potty break by then. lol

Great video. Your fine job of a quick release was close to the quality of a big smallie I lost the same way over at Sawyer a couple days ago.

Just wondering. How did you post a video? I understand posting a photo, but not a video. Do you just post the video in the photo slot option?
