A friend and I took his pontoon boat (outboard removed) to Fan Lake 5am Sunday morning. We were expecting a good top water bite because we had caught some fish at Eloika on Saturday. As it turns out, there are no grass mats or lily pads on the surface yet. The water was gin clear and the few fish we found were very tight to cover right on the shore. No strikes on frogs, all were caught on plastics. It was a slow morning but who cares as long as you're fishing. We quit at 11:30am after covering the entire shoreline and likely deeper areas. My buddy ended up with 4 and I with only 2. I caught my 2nd close to the launch just before we were leaving. I swear it was bigger but my scale said 4lb 9oz.
