Second time fishing this lake. Unfortunately my boy couldnt go this time. Got to the lake around 3pm and started fishing some docks. Caught one on a jig maybe 10ft of water that went a pound and a half. Caught 3 others around the same size. BUT my second fish was the fish of a lifetime! Pulled into a Bay Area and spotted what I thought were two carp from a distance. Threw a sinko in there and wham, fish just grabbed the end of my 6" senko. Grrrr. Waited and casted a few more times with a follow and I saw her. A giant largemouth. Knees buckled as I enticed a reaction strike out of her and wham! Fish on! Fought her to the boat and realized just how big she was. I've caught a lot of 4-5lb bass with a couple over 6lbs and I'm goin to have to say this fish has to be my biggest. Threw her in the livewell and motored over to a dock nearby where I had an older gentleman snap a quick photo for me that doesn't do this hawg much justice but I was more worried about returning her safety back in the water. Revive only took a few seconds and she swam off just fine. Which made me extremely happy. Always practice CPR (catch, photo, release) with bass, please!

Real Reports. Real pics. Real information.

I agree. That fish has to be close to eight pounds. Largemouth are a rare catch in Tapps, but when one is caught it's usually a pig. Congrats!

I agree rick, I was hesitant to say it because i dont want to be "that guy".....but I'd say this fish was atleast a solid 7lbs. Wish I would have gotten measurements on her to replicate a mount for my wall now that I think about it.

I'm quite sure the company who makes the replicas can figure the measurements for you. I would just give them what would probably be a very close guess at 7 1/2 lbs, and let them do the rest. I have two bass mounted on my wall. One is the real thing which I had mounted back in 1972. It weighed 8-7, which is the second biggest largemouth I've ever caught. And the other is an 8-3 replica I had made through the Bass Pro Shops. And it is gorgeous. I actually like it better than my real mount. The prices are listed in their catalog, and also online. And replicas are much cheaper than taxidermists. If a guy's got the money to do it, a bass of that size is certainly worthy of a mount.
