Boat is back in the water after completing motor maintenance and a much need cleaning and wash over the Memorial Day weekend.
Fished both SAT and SUN on American with both days producing well.
I ended up only fishing for a few hours as the density of traffic has increased dramatically. We all get busy in the boat as fish start coming in or maneuvering for another pass, but as a reminder, please keep a vigilant eye out for others..I had a few close calls that left me wondering...!!.......now that my public service announcement is over, I will get to the good stuff!
Marked lots of closely banded schools from the north part of Silcox Island, west to the North Park Launch, to the VA and the southern tip of Silcox. Depths ranged from 20-50 feet on both days.
SUN: Early launch-0630. Cloudy, light rain and mist, winds out of the north-perfect! Surface water temp 60-63 degrees.
Forgot my scented corn and had to rely solely on maggots or a bare hook.
First fish was the Trout that slammed a yellow and orange blended hootchie less than 10 minutes into my first run. Second two full size Kokes were on a blue and reddish Macks hootchie. So I ended up with three keepers in the boat and a few lost.
All picked up on a UV style dodger, maggots at 20-40 feet of water, 1.0-1.6 MPH.
The bite was definitely on as I saw a lot of landing nets in the water and a flotilla of fishing boats working near the VA!
Hope this helps!
