6/1/2013 8:33:00 AMThough I now fish smallmouth primarily on Lake Tapps, size wise, American has bigger smallmouth. But for every one smallmouth bite, one has to go through a multitude of pecking rock bass. And it makes no difference if you're fishing 3 feet of water or 30 feet. Though I know it doesn't make a dent, I dispatch every rock bass I catch. The sea gulls, eagles and ospreys love my easy meals.

6/2/2013 7:10:00 PMTry right outside the little bay north of the Ft.Lewis Marina in about 30 ft of water. I've always had great luck in that spot. Try a chunk of worm too with a pink or yellow jig head. How big were the perch you did catch? Good luck out there
