Been a while since I've posted, or fished the big lake. I've been off to the salt, other lakes, and bass...man, I love those bass. Back out to do some fishing during the incoming rain, well okay, rain and more rain, welcome to the northwest in spring. Bass weren't picking up what I was putting down today but the bait fish were puddling, like fishing albacore, so I figured the culprit must be cuttys. It took a few lures to figure out what they wanted but when I got it right they let me know right away. It was wham wham, fish on, wham for most of the middle of the day. Tons of take downs, caught a few, kept a couple. Yes, I sharpen my hooks several times per day, and off set the tip. They be sneaky.

These fish are feasting on the huge quantity of bait in the lake. Find the bait, you'll find the fish (betcha heard that before). They are stacking on the pounds like me around Thanksgiving and I expect we'll be seeing some really nice growth in our typical Lake WA cutty about the time the tourney rolls around in mid-June (check with OE folks for details). If they look like small salmon, that's only because they are about the size of small Coho. They went right to the smoker and get to share the plate with some fresh foraged morels mushrooms and some quality PNW IPA. Ahhh.........ooops, drooling on the keyboard, that can't be good for it. Gotta go, stuffing my face.

Tight lines all!

NIce job Tesla and glad you could get back to the big water. Was thinking the same thing myself but got invited to join 'fishermen20' tomorrow for some lingcod action in Elliot bay in the AM but will definitely get back on the lake later this week for a spin. Will let you know how we do. That is one good looking meal there!!

Good report. I picked up a nice 2 pounder last week myself. If you want to check into the tourney Tesla mentioned go to www.psalakewashington.org and click on Trout Derby. There will be cash prizes and merchandise giveaways and you will see some nice fish brought in--up to 4 pounds the last couple of years.

Nice report. Glad it works out fine for you.
I would like to give it a try but my boat got lots of water in the gas tank. I went through new fuel filters but it seems like a full flush is required.
Good luck in your fishing!

I was out there as well fishing the southern part of the East channel and the stickleback are thick down there as well. In fact I caught quite a few in my crayfish traps and used them for bait.

Have yet to fish Lake Washington...chomping at the bit. Have a new boat and most of the gear. All I need is a bit of knowledge (that's where y'all come in) and time (I work too darned much). Would appreciate tips from one and all.
