Yesterday, I headed up to Bear to do some bass fishing. This lake is a great lake for me to fish because I am still 14, and I have a small pontoon boat that suits me nicely. Being in no hurry, I arrived at the lake at about 11:00. I started to work the North end of the lake around the pads and after about half an hour with no luck, I decided to switch to some trout fishing. It only took me about an hour before I had my limit of rainbows. I still had a lot of time to kill, so I went to the south end of the lake to work real shallow in the reeds. After throwing around a Culprit worm, I decided to start throwing a senko and a baby brush hog. I instantly had some success with the senko. When I had the short-striking fish, I would throw my brush hog back itno the same spot and almost always had a follow up bite. The key was to fish SLOW. I worked the south end for 4 hours and was rewarded with 9 fish from 1-2 pounds. Don't be afraid to punch jigs through the mat. The fish are really shallow and biting the bait on the fall. It was overall a great day and I got a fair share of sun.
