Samish kokanee seem to be running a little hot and cold so far this spring. Wednesday was 2 limits in less than 2 hrs, today was 1 limit in 3 + hours. The fish are running smaller than last year, but there are a few around that are over 12 inches. Our biggest today was a 15 incher to go with several 11 inch eaters. The early bite is generally a surface bite, but the larger fish seem to be coming anywhere from 10 to 30 feet off a DR. The big one came from 32 feet, but the others were scattered throughout the water column. As typical of Samish, red/green wedding rings or home tied spinners tipped with corn or gulp maggots put them in the boat. Surface water temp is now up to 62 F.
