Report:: 15 lb salmon caught!
I'm pretty sure this is the lake we fished on Saturday, at least that was the name my uncle gave me though the directions in the overview don't sound too familiar. I apologize if this isn't the same lake.
Anyway, we hit the lake about 1:30 pm. My husband went out in our boat while I tried my luck offshore since hearing such great things about it from my uncle. Not even a 1/2 hour later I hear my husband a hopping & a hollering. Not far away, he rows over to show me what he caught-a 26.5" 9 lb beautiful buck!! Well, needless to say I got in the boat to go out. :-) Of course if you've read any of my previous reports you know my husband always tries to out fish me. This time he thought he was going to!!
About 20 mins later I cast out & start to jig my rig back in. Snag or so I thought!! I had something on my line NOT happy to be there & NOT wanting to come!! Unfortunately in the excitement I position my pole to where the end was in my side-but it turned out to be one good reason to get a bruise!! After fighting this fish for about 3 mins or so my husband finally landed it in the net (which it barely fit in!!), & it was a 29" 15lb salmon!! Not only my first salmon but my largest fish to date. Needless to say, I was REAL glad to have been the only ones on the lake cuz I ended up doing a dance & some hopping & a hollering of my own!! :-) I had just got the record within my family, that is until today when my uncle called to say that he caught a 30"er from the same lake!! That's ok, I'm happy for him!!
I apologize if it sounds like I'm bragging (I can hear my 13 yr. old telling me to "stop bragging mom"), I'm just excited.
Anyway, I caught a 20" & a 16" which I threw them both back. Let them get bigger for next year!! My husband then caught a 14" that he threw back. & just before we left he caught a 25" buck that we also kept though we are normally C&R. What a day!!
OK Vinnie, I'm going to stop now.
Tight Lines!!
