I went fishin on my birthday and received many wonderfull gifts from the water. First fish happened right away on a texas rigged watermelon yum dinger and was about 2 1/2 pounds. It was caught about 1/2 way between the launch and the lily pads on the South end. Caught a few more smaller ones, then decided to hit the North end. No luck after a couple of hours and headed back South.
I fished the South lilys earlier with no luck, but decided to try it again. I tried a new plastic rigged Texas style with a 1/8 ounce bullet weightright at the edge and bam, a 4.2 pounder, and again a 3 pounder. After a couple more fish, I was getting blown around like crazy, so I set up in the lilys that act as an island and floated thru (with wind assist) and caught a few that went around 2 pounds each. Being early in the season I missed a couple of hook sets, but that's alright I had a great day. We must have been the only ones figuring them out as most of the other boats pulled off due to the wind. Great day, cant wait to get back.
