So, another day spent fishing for the elusive Crappie. I fished Lake St. Clair on several occasions before for bass, but this trip I wanted to try and catch crappie. Weather forecast called for sunny conditions but high winds and that was right on. The water level is about two feet up from normal pool and the lake has a 5mph speed limit, which some choose to ignore. I fished the docks across from the launch working a pumpkin seed tube jig with a 1/16 oz head and continued to work around and through the fingers. Unfortunately the wind wouldn't allow for a slow presentation in deeper water which is what I think they wanted. I tried a slip cork at various depths but wind conditions continued to shift.
On another note, I received a courtesy vessel inspection while I was waiting at the launch. The officer was very helpful and provided some insight into the crappies diet here in the PNW versus my home lakes in Alabama. Today, I'm heading to Silver Lake, but I will return to St. Clair in a few days.
