Weather was too nice, so I skipped out of work a couple hours early to hit the lake. Spent the better part of 2 hours trying to mark anything on the fish finder in the 30-55' with no luck. Couldn't seem to get a bite on the drop shot. Decided to move in shallower and finally hooked into my first bass of the year in about 13' of water. Short and fat one. 3lb's, with what I assume is a full stomach of eggs.

Feels good to get the first fish under my belt. Tight lines.

I notice you have an HB 598ci si. How do you like it? I just bought one and got it installed on the boat. Only had it in the water one time so far and having trouble getting it dialed in. Lots of settings to fiddle with!

That was only my 2nd time out with it, but I really like it so far. I'm starting to get better at reading the SI screen, but still keep the down imaging on. I'm finding new spots in areas I thought I already knew like the back of my hand. The coolest thing, is your ability to record the entire trip on a SD card, and be able to overlay the scanned data over Google maps! So amazing! There is also 3rd party software, that combines your scans into one composite image of the areas you covered on the lake.

I didnt have a scale on me at the time, but after getting a 3lb fish on the scale today, I would put this one much closer to 4lbs now. Im kicking myself so hard, because this is my personal best smallie to date, and I didnt make it offical!
