I helped Kokanee_Slayer’s boat at the Wounded Veterans Fishing Program Event on April 20, 2013. I prayed that the wind would not be an issue and He answered my prayers. I forgot to ask for lots of fish. It was a hard day of fishing to get our warrior’s limit in the boat. After about 8 hours of fishing we got 6 fish. But I have to say that we had 6 take downs and 6 in the boat. Most of the fish inhaled the hooks.
Kokanee_Slayer got us there in just over an hour after meeting up.
Dan, the Veteran in charge of the Wounded Veterans’ Fishing Program sponsored by VFW Post 318 was already at the gate which said closed. Kokanee_Slayer, who is almost always early, knew how to open the gate to let us in. He launched the boat and we waited and visited as everyone arrived.Scrminbanshee brought donuts. Lou Smith came and handed out maps of Riffe Lake in plastic sleeves. Lowe1648 and his wife Annie arranged the event and put in tremendous effort.

We went out by the dam because that is where we all had caught fish previously but nothing for us. There were a few fish picked up by a couple of boaters before lunch. Lunch was hot dogs, potato salad, chips, smoked kokanee, kokanee roll ups and something to drink. Then all those who still wanted to go get more fish did. Our warrior Mike had drove himself so we went out again. We went up by the island and were trolling around when P.J. on Winteruns’ boat called us on the radio and asked if we got a fish yet. Well no we hadn’t. What did you get yours on? He said Wannafish A Lure’s Rainbow that was donated to each warriors new spinning rod they got. Ok. I dug around in my stuff and found one to put on with a Dick Nite Chartreuse HotHead Dodger. We trolled a bit and the rod went down and Mike fought it in. I found another Rainbow for Kokanee_slayers rod but it had a smaller blade. He switched it to the same setup I had. I also included 1 green Berkley maggot and 1 shoepeg corn with anise scent on the forward hook.
This set up brought 5 fish into the boat all at 10 feet on the downrigger. The other was on the Dick Nite Pink Splatter dodger and a pink splatter squid that I put out on another rod while I got a fish off. After I came home I found out the lake had been rising the whole time we were there. Very slow day from what I have always experienced at Riffe but good company. Thanks to all who came!

We are in a battle! Angler against fish! We need an arsenal of weapons and at my site you will find some of those different weapons. For all those who wannafish a lure come in and take a look at WannafishALure.com.
