After seeing all the reports and Mr. Carey's video, had to go to lake Chelan for some Kokanee. Started fishing around 8:00 a.m. and first fish by 8:15. Caught on dodger with a blue smile blade spinner tipped with red and yellow shoepeg corn. The rod was set up with a 30 foot jet-diver to get down. We were fishing 4 rods, 2 on the downrigger and 2 with jet divers.

We had a long dry spell, about 2 hours, before we touched another fish. Next one came on the downrigger on a dodger with a pink splatterback squid, about a 3 pound lake trout. Was down 45 feet in 60 feet of water. Pick up a couple more on the jet diver rods then they shut off completely.

We set the downriggers at 42 feet and trolling speed was 1.3 - 1.4 MPH. Consistently caught Kokanee until 3:00 p.m. and ended the day with a total of 16 landed and several lost. Had what felt to be a very heavy fish from the head shakes come unbuttoned at 60 feet down in 80 feet of water. Fun day with fairly steady action. Best fishing lure was anything that had a blue smiley blade in front of it. Last hookup of the day was a double for dad and I, his was bigger.

Thank you all for this site, I really look forward to reading the reports and new posts. I found a t-shirt for Mike Carey that has a volume knob cranked up to 11, just having trouble sending the photo.
