This was my first venture out by myself this year. In old Ol’ Girl.
It was overcast and breezy which made it feel cold. Only a few short sprinkles the whole time I was out there from 12-3pm.
I had trouble with the electric motor. On speed 2 I would only go .8 miles per hour. On 3 I could go as fast as 2 mph. So my speed was not consistent. I tried about 6 different colors with 3 different dodgers. I only had 3 take downs which could be called drive-bys. I had 2 rods stacked on the downrigger which I had between 13-35.
I didn’t have a fish finder so I don’t know if I would have done better with one.
Blurock who really is Brianna Bruce of Livin’ Life Adventures was out there today and she did better than I.

I hear you on the trolling motor problems Toni. I was having the same problem recently. Then I went and purchased a brand new Minn Kota Endura Maxx 55# thrust with VARIABLE speed control. I don't know how I ever dealt with a 5 speed system before. If you get the time/money, I would look into investing in a motor with variable speed control so that you can dial in an exact speed, regardless of wind and other conditions. Other than that, good luck out there. I haven't had any luck with kokes at American this year yet. Don't know if it's just too early, or if it's something that we can come to expect of this fishery, but I haven't seen or heard any reports of any kokes being pulled yet. Tight lines!

I hope to have a different boat and motor soon. That would eliminate this problem. I will be able to stay out longer too.

I have heard of 2 kokanee caught in the last week. One I saw the picture of. Yesterday blurock was out there and when she left the surface she said the temp was 50.6 degrees.

Yeah, I just checked and saw one pictured (probably the same you are referring to) on a report from KFF. Hopefully it's starting to heat up and we will start to see the action intensify in the next few weeks.

The joys of equipment ownership, sometimes it goes haywire. Oh well, better than sitting in the rain not fishing. Thanks for the report toni, and wish you the best in getting the new setup on the water. can't wait to hear the stories of future trips.. Take care and keep chasing the kokeanee.

At least you were able to get out there on the water. Hopefully, your new rig comes together soon!
