Went out to Kitsap for a couple hours this morning from 0830 till 1100. Six others were fishing. Saw one guy catch a decent 1.4 lb bow and I had one on but he got me tangled up on something and got off.

I found after fishing there many times that with the tall weeds it is better to drop shot your rig instead of a slip weight setup. drop your weight on the drop shot about 1 foot below the hook. With the drop shot your weight lays in the weeds and your bait is always a foot above it, but with the slip weight your bait can be sometimes on the surface floating or when you go to reel in the slack it drags through the weeds. Hardly ever at that lake does the weight ever hit the bottom. I'm just saying try it you'll love it!

When I cast with a drop shot sometimes the hook gets tangled in the main line, I prefer to put a weight on with about a 3 foot leader. This keeps the weight on the bottom and the bait near the bottom but not too low when the trout might be suspended higher up in the water..
