Got to the 65th dock around 11, and fished till 1. Saw lot of fishing surfacing and jumping so threw out a #1 mepps rainbow color, for a few minutes and caught nothing. Switched to power bait and still nothing. This little girl and her grandpa limited out but they gave me a couple of these gulp alive green eggs. I casted out and immediately got a hit it was a 13 inch rainbow. Put him on the stringer and casted out again. I got a another bite and missed him, as i reeled it in he followed i stopped and he grabbed it. Fish on, wait nope he does a flip and comes right off. I then used 2 smelly green power eggs. And a glob of rainbow power bait, got another bite set the hook 10 inch rainbow. Got a few more bites after that and missed em, every time i got a bite id reel in slowly and have a follower. I rated it a 4 cuz it was lot of fun.As I left lot of planters were jumping and surfacing. A guy next to me was reeling in and had a jumbo follow it, it was easily 2-3 pounds and over 22 inches .Does anyone know when they are stocking it again. id like to be there for that.

Not sure if they'll be stocking again this year. They dumped about 18000 fish in there so it should be fine for awhile. I've been seeing schools near shore with some big fish mixed in. Caught a nice 15" on powerbait yesterday & had several misses on a spinner. Also snagged a huge carp with a dick nite and 3lb test. Quite a fight.

What area have you been seeing them schooling in? What kind of spinners to? I fished with a #1 mepps and had nop followers or anything. Do the small 50/50 dick nites work?

I've had best luck with lures, like Joe's Flies (Colorado spin), Kastmaster (chrome/ blue), Acme Little Cleo (gold), and Crocodile spoon (rainbow or green frog) but there are so many patterns so experiment. Presentation and retrieve speed are important. You want to cast beyond any suspected fish activity and vary the retrieve even stopping for a brief second then restarting. While reeling in sometimes moving rod right then left adds reality to an offering. In the evening a bubble float and fly (wet or dry) on 4-5' leader can work wonders. The idea is to have fun and maybe catch, which is a bonus!

They have been running pretty shallow and are spread out everywhere on the lake. I had good luck with a basic silver #2 mepps with the flourescent red sleeve on the hook. I was just messing with the dick nite, since I had it in my tackle bag. It was a wee red/white.
