Jerry and I must have stopped at every tackle shop between Olympia and Woodland, but we finally made it to Merwin around noon. We got the Smoker Craft in the water and began our search for Kokes. We didn't mark any fish on the finder, but with the lake being so calm, it was easy to see where they were jumping. It wasn't a real hot bite, but we were hooking up fairly consistently until dark. The main problem was getting them in the boat. We managed to land 8, but probably lost about a dozen others. We just couldn't keep them on, in spite of the long soft action rods. Most of the fish came from long lining near the surface.

That's a nice looking kokanee and it appears to have been a perfect day to be out on the water. One thing you might want to try is a small treble stinger hook. Toni offers a few lures with this option. For a catch and keep fishery they are great.

rotfl...He won an auction of some of my lures. I told him he should have taken me.

I have seen the light and I am now a firm believer! All of my Kokanee lures will have treble stinger hooks from now on!
