Jacob Hunter came out from Wisconsin to fish for Kokanee. We fished the break out of Mill Bay from 60 to 100 feet. The fish were deeply suspended from 50 to 80 feet. Almost every hook up turned into a double. These are very acrobatic fish.
We used Mack's Lures Double D Dodgers with a 16 inch leader to Mack's mini cha cha squidders. We baited the squidders with Pautzke's Fire Corn and trolled at 1.2 to 1.4 mph. You have to be willing to endure periods of inactivity to get the minutes of frenetic fishing. They are really hot and cold. Pay attention to your sonar and run your gear 5 feet above the fish for the best action. After limiting Jacob on Kokanee we went a bit deeper and got a couple of Lakers to round out the morning. Another beautiful day in paradise!
