Success! So things fell into place and I was able to get to the Atlantic boat launch before 5pm to meet a couple of friends to try my luck again on the Lake. As soon we had motored over to the west side of Mercer I realized I had left my vest with license and both tackle boxes in the truck. So, made the trip back across the lake and grabbed my gear and finally had the rods in the water by 5:45.
Ran the Brad's cut plug stuffed with herring ( thanks Tesla) and 2 rods with whole herring in helmets. 2 rods on the down riggers and 1 and a quarter ounce lead we started our troll south. Not too long we had our 1st take down! It was on the long line but only briefly so when I pulled it in only the head was left! Somehow he had missed the hooks so pulled the riggers up to 20 feet and bam! fish on! this one was hooked so handed the rod to one of my friends and he pulled in the 1st cutt of the season for the Tin Cup! A 17" beauty caught on the Brad's cut plug so it was back down to 20 feet when the other rod goes off and this time I didn't have a chance to hand it off so fought it in and landed my first ever cutthroat on this suburban lake! What a beauty at 21"!!
A bit later had 2 misses and then one stuck and low and behold it was a nice little 10" kokanee! Sorry didn't bring the camera so hope these pictures come out ok as they were taken on my flip phone and sent to my e-mail. And didn't get one of the koke. Will try and get out there again tomorrow!
