My Dad and decided to give Mineral another try for the year. The lake
was not as crowded as the last time we fished the lake. We had no trouble
finding a parking place for our truck and trailer. Instead of fishing
our usual spot, we decided to try further north. The two spots we fished
at the north end of the lake we ended up catching 9 fish in 3 hours of
fishing. Fluorescent green Powerbait (or Powerbait clone) seemed to be
the bait that worked the best. I also caught a few on rainbow Powerbait.
After things seemed to slow down, we tried trolling around the lake with
out any luck. We could not catch the remaining fish to get our limit. We
stayed a total of 6 1/2 hours on the lake and called it a day. There were
number of other boats on the lake that seemed to be doing well, some
were using pop gear and some were still fishing off the bottom. This
was our first fishing outing this year that we did not get rained on.
Still did not see anyone catch any 6 or 7 pounders like I've heard
stories about.
