I fished Lake Washinton on Monday. I launched at the Atlantic City ramp at noon and ran over to the south side of Mercer Island. I started trolling south at 35' down with a 0000 dodger and a red label cut plug herring. About halfway to the Cedar, turned around and headed back up on my same track. I got just off the tip of the island and figured it's time for a bait check. I pulled the line out of the clip and could feel it was heavier than normal, reeled down on it and this fish immediately launched from the water 100' back! Fish on! He swam right to the net, and into the box he went. I trolled till 3 with only one more take down, that i missed. I scored it a 5-star day because it was my biggest cuttthroat to date. Oh, and because it didn't rain!

Four years ago I c&r'd a 25" cutthroat trolling a black woolly bugger along the backside of lake crescent, near the rr tunnel.same day I got what we figured was an 8lb beardsley....Two of my biggest trout in one day.If anyones interested in fishing this lake, put in at crescent resort and shoot across the lake toward the old railroad trail, used 2 split shot above my fly and trolled so you could see bottom on one side of the boat. Also, thats lk crescent in clallam county,I see there are 2 of them in the state.

PS...I also used a floating line and 10 ft. leader.Troll slow so your fly stays within six feet of the surface.Best time is august through september.

Hey Mike, thank you! That bad boy was 22"!!

@sunfighter: Hey, get your own report. LOL, but thanks for the heads up on Crescent. I pass by it on my way to Sekiu during salmon season. A bit out of the way for me otherwise. Lake Washington is a 40 minute drive from my place. (Orting)

sorry to butt in but I love cutthroat fishery.Even if its out of the way,its worth the trip. The lake has an over abundance of fish and very little pressure. The park service made up a non existing shortage as an excuse to restrict retention, which c&r is fine with me but did a dirty job to get it.
