We arrived and were fishing by 7:30am. It took 2 1/2 hours to put a fish on the ice. We used jigs with Gulp power bait. i used pink and my partner used orange. We ended up with 5 keepers and put back just as many small ones. I broke off 2 fish. We did better last week in exactly the same place. I drilled 8 holes and we moved around but stayed within 40 foot circle. Did not see very many other people catch any. Most left after a couple of hours. We stayed until 1 before leaving. That was 5 1/2 hours for 5 keepers. I hope next weekend is better.

Just courious, why does everyone always use Power Bait for the perch and crappie at Elokia? Don't get me wrong, I know it catches fish, but the real advantage is that it is easy to get and store. When the ice fishing gets tough, I prefer to use maggots (Euro Larva) if I can get them, or meal worms or crickets (available at your local pet store for feeding reptiles). Nevertheless, great report. I hope I make it up there this year.
