Yes, Lake Washington, Cutts, and a 5 all in the same post. It doesn't happen very often, so I couldn't resist. We had about 90 minutes of fishing time today. So, strictly speaking not really a day of fishing. The results were a 3.6 lb buck, followed by a 2.4 lb hen and a more typical 15 inch fish that was released, with plenty of take downs.
I've learned to never fish this lake with the expectation of catching a fish, and I have been skunked more than 50% of the days I've fished it so far this year (about 6 skunk days so far, sure to be more). But every now and then when the planets align the bite switches on and if your in the right place at the right time with the correct lure at the end of your line, its worth all the effort. Both the buck and the hen had great surface action and put on a show all the way to the boat from 100+ feet out.
They took a 3" Brads cut-plug red/silver/chartreuse packed with freezer burnt herring today at 1.4 to 1.6 knots. Tomorrow it might be something else entirely, rotate your lures often. These came from the mid-lake region, holding off points (structure, drop-offs). Tight Lines to all, and stay safe this lake is very cold right now.
