My son and I hit Rat Lake again this morning hoping that we could get rid of the skunk smell from two weeks ago. We were on the ice at about 10:00 am with only one other pickup in the parking area. Weather was very nice for a winter’s day. High overcast, no wind and running about 20 degrees. The ice measures about three inches of cloudy and five inches of crystal clear. Using various colors of power bait we were able to pull a limit between us, me catching three and my son catching two in about three hours. When we left the ice at about 1:00 pm I counted sixteen other anglers on the ice and nine other vehicles in the parking area. It’s kinda getting crowded for Rat Lake in the afternoons so it’s best to hit her early morning before the fair weather folks get out there.
