The Franson gang shared their three generation Lake Chelan winter fishing trip with me. We worked the indeterminate flat in the lower basin as well as deep water above the Yacht Club to catch a nice pile of Mackinaw. Silver Horde's Kingfisher Lite spoon in Orange Splatterback and Mack's Lures Cha Cha Squidders provided most of the catch. Trolling close to the bottom at speeds of 1.3 to 1.6 mph was the ticket. The weather deterioriated on us during the day as air temperatures fell from around 32 to about 27 by the end of the day with an uplake breeze and persistent snow flurries, but the propane heated enclosure allowed everyone to get warmed up so they could enjoy this unique experience. What a great winter bite!
