Launched out of Atlantic City launch, S. end of Lk. WA. Was overcast, fairly cold, no wind. Had a few sprinkles and a small rain shower along the way. Picked up the, "Urban Angler" along the way. We started trolling the S. West side of the lake down towards the Cedar river. Fishing in about 80' of water at depths of 25-40' off the DR.
Recent Intel. has the cutts. in shallower water, hanging around cover, to ambush the prey, lol.

I fished a Needlefish, behind a Luhr Jensen 0/0 dodger.-- Nothing--- Urban A. went with a Hotshot behind a chartruese dodger. More nothing---
We went over to the S. West corner of M. Island and trolled going South. Now I was using an Apex behind a chrome dodger. I think it was the Watermelon Apex. In the middle of a conversation I took the rod out of the holder because I was going to pop it out of the clip and change gear. As I was holding it, still in the clip, I felt a hit, and it released. Brought the fish to the boat from WAY out there. Not all that large for a WA. cutt. but was 16" and pretty chunky. I tend to fish at a minimum of 100' behind the boat, sometimes I think I go farther than needed, as it can be harder to see fish that don't pop the clip... if they are too far off to move the DR ball and show themselves.
Continued in that area for awhile. At one point I went through some shallow bottom ( 30') I was back into deeper water when I saw my pole tip dancing. I thought maybe I was dragging balls on the bottom? But actually my depth counter showed me above bottom for sure. Had to monkey around and bring the rig up in order to release. (too far back in the clip) by the time I did all this there was nothing to show on the line. Who knows?

Always wanted to boat in and have Clam chower at Ivars at Coulon.... so, Urban Angler was nice enough to spring for a feast! Warmed up, and back on the water. Nothing but fishing stories after that point.
Thanks for lunch and hanging out, Eric.

Nice, nothing better than hanging out, but at least you caught something. Good to see both of you out,..

I also had Clam chowder at Ivars on Friday; it seems we are going the same loop :)
