It was snowing, cold, overcast so I did what any proper thinking person would do, stole another 3 hours from a hectic schedule, and went to try some prototype lures. Had people asking for them by the time I was done. Went to pond 4 and collaborated with Jiggy about lure design a bit, then he had to leave, so I went out on the pontoon and started flipping lures (far better than hamburgers). Caught one fish after another (C&R), but it wasn't the panfish I'd planned on. They apparently planted the lake with brood stock trout, about 2 feet long or more. They lead like horses compared to wild trout, but still are fun on 4lb test and ultralight rigs. Brown and smoke worked the best. Caught 3 perch and a bluegill and one crappie on my second rod, all with worms, and 9 big trout, with no little ones at all. Twas much more fun than honey-dos at home. A bit on the cool side though. Be sure to dress warm if you go. There were several people there, and not all were C&R, so I imagine this won't last long. Can't imagine eating fish that spent a lifetime on Purina Trout Chow and breeding as fast as possible with little exercise. Don't think it would be particularly healthy. Haven't eaten one like that since I was a kid. All plastic on the trout.
Water temp is a guess. South end was best, and the vegetation is till very thick in the water.
