Fished Tues on the SW end of Mercer Is and went with down riggers at 40 to 60 ft and a planner board with a rapala type lure. Caught 2 fish on the planner board - small cutt and chinook. Then raised the down rigger to 10 ft and hooked a small kokanee.
Got out again Wed about 10 by myself and stuck with a planner board with a silver rapala. After an hour hit a big fish which really took off. Finally got it to the boat and big fat cutt well over 20". I forgot to put the net in the boat and since I C&R let it fight at the boat until it came free. Water temp 49 and really clear.
Should mention that I checked several of my favorite spots for perch. They have been at 50 to 60 ft and I even checked to 70 ft. Nutin!! Also, depth finder was never without clouds of bait fish at 20 to 35 ft. Not sure what they are but I have to assume either smelt or stickleback.
