Just a quick report from a new member. Moved back here after a long stint in the southwest (Lake Texoma on Ok - Texas border). Since I am living near Lk Wash have concentrated on the cutts and perch. Met Wayne at the launch awhile back and he was kind enough to show me his perch spots. We have become friends and I showed him "slabs" that I have been using to catch bigger perch than using small jigs. He is holding a couple perch of many we caught with 1 oz slabs .
Yesterday went out with friend Paul and best perch day for size I have ever had at any lake. Fish were at 50 ft and moving around a lot but we were able to follow them on the finder. I caught my biggest right at 13". I am holding the cleaning board with 8 of 34 we kept. The cleaning board is 12" wide and the top fish is 13" to give you an idea of size.

Next to Walleye, great eating. I'm envious. Super catch of fat perch.

Nice Fatties. How about a general area of the Lake that you were fishing?

Wow, I have never tried led jigs for perch. The jigs almost look like the salt water "Wilson Dart." Anyway, nice fat perch.

Nice job on the perch! We had slower action today but managed a few good sized fish.

These type of jigs are called "slabs" in the south and are used extensively for stripers on Lk Texoma, Ok. where I lived for a period of time. It is one of the most phenomenal lakes I have ever fished and where I learned to use slabs. As mentioned above they look like salt water "Wilson Darts" and I did use these for stripers ( the crippled herring jig style works better due to it's size - wider and slower drop). I tip the jig with a strip of perch meat about 2" long and 1/2" wide - skin on to hold meat on hook. We started with 1/2 and 3/4 oz jigs but as the fish moved deeper went to 1 oz for better control and get it down there quicker. The one thing we found was that by using these lures we averaged much larger perch than dropshotting small jigs.

Predator - we are fishing mainly the east channel about 1/2 mile south of the Mercer Island bridge on the Mercer Is side. Put the finder on 4x zoom and scope between 45 to 60 ft until you find them on the bottom. They are schooled sometimes 10 to 15 ft thick but after a cold front are tight to the bottom. We are in a 17ft green Lund and I have no problem if you see us out there to pull up and chat.

Swedish pimple is another small jig that they like. Nice job getting them.

Impressive fish size, and area knowledge! Like you style of unconventional fishing tactics. Hope to run into you at Lk Wa some day. Where do you typically launch?

I launch at Atlantic Street on Seward Park Av South. I hear as the water cools the perch go deeper and will hit 100!
