I went to chain lake today got there 2:45pm and fished until 6:15pm. It was sunny and calm about 60 degrees out water was cool though.

I started out with green buzz bait and green neon top water minnow rapala size 5. I got some swirls by the minnow but they weren't hitting right away and liked the lure very slow presentation. My first fish was 8" bass on buzz bait. He hit close to shore and I was casting with the shore. I just took a photo with my phone and sent to my girlfriend and took next cast to a cove and about foot back BAM FISH ON! A big one...he jumped shook and put up a good fight. It was 12.5" bass about 3" wide and for Chain Lake anything over 10" is big. I ended up getting lots of hits on the buzzbait not all of them stayed on. Best was 12.5" got 10" and 9.5". I put on larger perch color rapala size 7 and got about 8 fish on top water minnow.

All in all a good day but water temp was cool. Did see lots of trout rising for flies and some people trolling for trout and saw fish heads by the boat launch when I got done.

I got 15 fish in the boat lost 4 that were on the line and had good action. Nothing like fall top water bassin!

All fish catch and released. Here is photo of the big one.

PS. Didn't see any photo attached of your bass.

Yeah I couldn't get the photos to load I tried 2-3 times and gave up. I saw more trout surfacing last time out as the water temp had dropped quite a bit. Two weeks ago I was catching 30-35 bass per trip out to the lake. Think pretty soon they will stop biting.

Where is the launch area at this lake. Went to check it out and didn't see any kind of access to it. Is the launch on pipeline rd or chain lake rd? Even from google earth looks like no access and private. Any help would be great. Thanks!

BassSlayer, not sure if you ever found the entrance, but if you look on Google Maps you'll see where 195th Ave SE turns left and becomes Chain Lake Rd. There's a short straight stretch, then a right bend in the road and the access is at the end of that bend on the right. There used to be a sign that just said "Public Fishing" out by the road but you could only see it going toward Monroe and I don't know if it's there anymore.
