Well, after trying for 2 days in Quilecene and Dabob Bays with no luck, Jennifer and I decided to try freshwater on Monday. We got up Monday morning and headed to a tried and true lake, Lake Samamish. We've been doing very well on this lake the last few weeks. Today was no exception. We started out about 1 pm and fished until about 5 pm. The weather was nice most of the time but about 3 pm the wind came out of no where, and WOW so did the fish. We lost many right at the boat,, and of course some were very large. But, what we boated were well worth it. The one cut measured 20 " and was a blast. There are hundereds of salmon close to the creek but of course couldn't get them to bite. Wish we could figure that out, but oh well.
What made this 3 day trip wonderful is, after multiple hair pulling and expensive efforts all spring and summer long to get the main motor, kicker motor, and fish finder working all at the same time, we finally succeeded (now that fall and bad weather is around the corner LOL). This has made it frustrating trying to learn saltwater salmon fishing, but no problem with freshwater.
Anyway, we used popper and weddingring on one pole with 4 oz weight, and small flasher and small hoochie with 2 oz weight on the other. Again, the bite went crazier as the wind got stronger.
Good luck to all.
