Got on the water about 7:30am. Trolled the Southwest bays at about 1.7-2 mph using a black/green wedding ring with a yellow spinner and a chunk of worm. Set the downriggers to about 33'. It took about 3 hours before the started biting but when they did I picked up 3 13" rainbows. That was it the entire day. I spent the next 8 hours exploring the lake looking for fish and marking hem on my fish finder for future reference. I tried to get the big boys in the mouth of the narrows to bite on something but they wouldn't. They were suspended about 1-5' from the bottom in 69' of water. I'll figure them out someday. I was pleased to find the trout had very red meat and filleting them was a breeze. I've attached a photo of my path around the mouth of the narrows area... is the right spot? Anyone have any tips for coaxing the Mackinaw or larger rainbows to bite? I tried a few U-20s in chartreuse/green/silver combos but had zero success.

That sun was amazing on that morning!!! We started about 7 am and was done by 8:30. We kept 3 that were over 2 lbs. We were fishing with large flies and leaded line. 2.5 mph and down 4 colors. Those Macs at the start of the narrows are finicky. Try flutter spoons and go real slow. Change direction often. If the wind was not so strong there, I would probably jig/drop shot for them. If I had help... it would be done. I "could" just make an updated version from the states GIS data, but I think the depths are all off. I have 80% of the lake scanned myself. Anyone with a plotter could record the depth data and send it to me.

You "kept" 3... hahaha. I put in 11 hours for 3 average fish. :/

What color/type of flies do you use? What part of the lake?

Hi Aaron...The map on my GPS that I have is close but when it comes to certain areas of the Lake it is way off. I am using streamer flies (like a Frisky Jenny) with about a third of a worm on the front hook. I spray with Frisky Jennies fly enhancer. Runnning from 2.2 to 3.2. If I put on a bead and a Wiggle Fin, I am doing 1.9 to 2.5. Black and Red Ants work great. I am using lead right now but when the water temp gets down to 55 or colder, it will all be top water. Speed and Swerve!!! Good Luck!!

Well this is a late response but I would try the point off the church camp ( straight out from the public launch). Stay in about 45' to 60' of water. If you are trolling try an Apex with a half of worm about 1.8 to 2.0 mph. Rainbow color or chartreuse. That point is tricky to get around but if you come out of the bay heading towards the Narrows and turn back north as you get to the end of the point and then follow the point around and back to shore there is a fairly deep pocket that they like to hang out in. I then just go up that shoreline in 40' of water until it starts to shallow out, turn around and retrace your troll. If the wind will allow it, I believe all those fish that you mark at the end of the point are Kokanee and you could try jigging for them.
